Teamwork is a highly value business expectation of our Information Technology graduates. Businesses expect our students to be able to work in teams and communicate effectively and follow timelines.

Information Technology faculty participate in advisory committees annually that are made up of business professional who help guide our curriculum and ensure that we are teaching necessary skills to prepare graduates for the workforce. Throughout this course, you will learn how to work as a team member and how to conduct meetings.

FROM: MCIT Chief Executive Officer

Welcome to MCIT. I would like to personally welcome you to our company.

We are very excited to hire a team of developers to help develop client web sites. As a junior consultant, you will be researching new web technologies, presenting ideas to clients and helping your clients expand their web services division. You will be required to prepare professional correspondence and deliver presentations to your clients.

As part of a team, you will learn to work effectively in a group. Even though you may not have all of the skills needed at first, you will learn how to access resources and think critically to solve problems that may arise.

We are confident that you will become a successful part of MCIT and I personally look forward to seeing your creativity and originality shine through your work.

One of your first tasks is to build your team dynamics. Using the available resources, determine what roles are used to make teams successful.

Your first task is to build your team dynamics. Using the available resources, determine what roles are used to make teams successful.

Review the resources to learn how to hold an effective meeting.

Using the team member roles, schedule and hold a meeting where team members select appropriate roles for each team member.

Create minutes from your meeting that identify team member roles using company standards.

Complete team contract using the MCIT Team Contract resource.

After each team member reviews the resources available, your first task as a team is to create a Cover Page document and a formal business letter introducing you and your team members to your program manager.

MCIT is very concerned that it projects a standard look to its clients. Therefore, your team will use specification in the Document Style Guide and create a Cover Page.

Your next step is to create the formal business letter introducing you and your teammates. Each teammate should include a paragraph about them. Meet with your program manager to submit your deliverables. Your work will be assessed according to the Writing Assessment Rubric.
